Data Views are a powerful tool in CJA that allows you to create virtual connections that can be used on projects and allow for multiple versions of the data to be used such as Data Views based on geography, session times, or dates as a few examples.

### Using Different Data Views in a Project

You are able to select different Data Views in a Project within Customer Journey Analytics.

1\. In the right corner of the panel where it says "FSI Data View 30 Day Sessions". A dropdown will appear and you will see the list of Data Views that are available to you.

2\. Select "FSI Data View 7 Day Session". The project will update to use the new Data View without the need to make any changes to the project but see the values in your customer journey using a shorter session time.

### Change a Dimension to a Metric

The following steps will be for reference only because only an admin can make changes to the Data View.

1\. Create a "Freeform Table" and drag over "Event Type" dimension from the side navigation bar.

2\. When looking at the dimension we can see that they are some events within the dimension that we would like to convert to a metric. Click "i" on "Event Type".

3\. Next, click **"Pencil Icon"** (Admin Privileges Only). This will take you to the Data Views screen where the admin will have access to make changes to the data in the Data View.

4\. You will now be taken to the Data View Components Page. Search for "Event Type". Click on the "Event Type" under Dimensions. Duplicate "EventType" Dimension Three Times **(3x)** (Admin Privileges Only)

Event Type (2) = "Add to Cart"

Event Type (3) = "Checkouts"

Event Type (4) = 4 "Orders"

5\. Now we will need to change each copy of the Event Type to "Dimension" > "Metric"

6\. Within the "Include Exclude Values", we will include logic to make sure that we get the specific metric that needs to be measured from the dimension.

Check **"Set include/exclude values"**

Criteria: **"Contain the phrase"**

Enter: Type Here

**"Add to Cart"** = commerce.productListAdds

**"Checkouts"** = commerce.checkouts

**"Orders"** = commerce.orders

Congrats! You've now created metrics from a dimension and saved your Data View that others in your organization can utilize.
