## Create a new audience based on CRM Data

In thi sexercice, we will create an audience for people Chinese people who are eligible to the scheme "***Scheme\_A"***

To create a segment:

1. Click on **+ Create Audience**, then select **Build rule**.
2. You will end up in the new segment builder. You will immediately notice the **Attributes** tab selected underneath **Fields**. As well as the **XDM Individual Profile** selector under **BROWSE ATTRIBUTES.**

Since XDM is the language that powers the experience business, XDM is also the foundation for the segment builder. All data that is ingested in AEP should be mapped against XDM, and as such, all data becomes part of the same data model regardless of where that data comes from. This gives you a big advantage when building segments, as from this one segment builder UI, you can combine data from any origin in the same workflow.

Segments built within Segment Builder can be sent to solutions like Adobe Target, Adobe Campaign and Adobe Audience Manager for activation.

We are going to define a segment for profiles who have been identified either by CustomerAI or from your own external modelling to have a high propensity.

Let's add a criteria on propensity score.

- In the search field in the attributes tab, type Nationality
- Drag and drop **Nationality attribute** onto the canvas.
- Change the operation to **equal** and add CN as value

Your screen should look like:

Click on **Refresh estimate** on the righ panel, it should display something around 170.

Next, let's add some conditon on eligible scheme.

Clear the search, and navigate to **demoapac > Scheme**, or search for Scheme.

This is a list of eligilble scheme. Drag and drop the **code **onto the canvas under your nationality condition.

You can also add behaviour (captured by experience events) to your segment definition. We will do that in the next exercise.

Finally, let's save our segment.

1. Enter a **Name** for your segment using the following naming convention , e.g. `John - Chinese Scheme A`.
2. (optional) Enter a **Description**.
3. Click on **Save and Close**.

You will be taken to the **Segment summary** screen, outlining your segment definition.

## Web Event Segmentation

Adobe's Segment engine lets you create segments based on a customers behaviour (captured by experience events). We can create simple segments based on a single event, or complex segments which follow a sequence of events, ie. customer did this... then that.

In this exercise we're going to create a Segment to identify individuals who view the insurance page at least twice in the last 24 hrs.

1. Click on **+ Create Audience**, then select build rule.

2\. You will end up in the new segment builder. Change from **Attributes** tab to the **Events** tab as we'd like to create a segment based on the customers behaviour. Search for **Web** and open the **Web page detail** node.

Next, we can change your recency and frequency condition.

In the top mid panel, change "anytime" to in last 1 day(s)

In the bottom pannel, change the "At least 1" by at least 2.

![](https://api.archbee.com/api/optimize/1Jp0iolWv35Z_mkI7oUiT/rtIUbTyEm3hibsLKjo6AD_image.png)

Give your Segment a name. *E.g. your name - Insurance prospect. *

In the right pannel, select edge as evaluation method.

Select **Save and Close.**

your audience is redy to be used, so you can go back to the web site and view a few page to check if your profile will be qualified for your audience.
