The automatic consent enforecement feature within Platform involves the following core steps:

- Confirm consent data is available in Platform
- Define a consent policy
- Enable the consent policy
- Test consent policy enforcement

In this exercise we will:

### Create a consent policy to automatically remove non-consenting profiles from audience activation workflows

1. Navigate to **Policies** sub-section located under **Privacy** within the Menu
2. Click **Create Policy**
3. Enter the following policy name: **Opt Out of Email - Inititals**

### Define an If/Then statement:

1. In the policy canvas, click **Marketing action** and select **Email Targeting**
2. Select the consent attribute **Marketing Preferences (Receive Email).** This consent attribute uses the field path **consents/marketing/email/val**
3. Click **Save**
4. Once saved, click the **Consent policies** radio button.
5. Click the newly created consent policy. The right-hand rail should appear.
6. Toggle the **Policy status** button to **enable** the policy. Auto enforcement of consent is now **enabled** and the applicable downstream audience activation workflows will now automatically filter profiles that have **opted out** of email marketing.
