Testing the journey
In this exercise we'll test the journey we've build.
To fully experience this journey, make sure to have the Lloyds Bank demo app installed on your phone.
A guide on how to do this can be found under Introduction > Mobile app. Additionally, you'll need to submit a PCA application on the Lloyds Bank demo app so there is are personalised fields to display in your email.
Follow the instructions below.
Submit an Application on the mobile app
Before we continue with running our Journey in Test Mode, we will create a test profile with your details.
- Open the mobile app with the Lloyds bank Project loaded.
- From the App Homepage, select Open a bank account with us.
- Complete the application form, and click Submit. Note: If you want to receive the email in your test journey, please complete the form with your own email address.
- Your inputs will now be stored in Adobe Experience Platform as Profile Attributes. You can view this by searching for your profile in the Profile viewer as previously done in Lab 1: Attract!
- You can also swipe left on the App screen to review the Profile Viewer panel.
Testing the Journey
In Adobe Journey Optimizer you can run journeys in test mode to test if the outcome of your journeys aligns with your requirements.
To enable test mode, click on Test Mode on the top right of your journey.
While in test mode, you can not make changes to the journey. You'll also notice that the left menu is replaced with the Test mode panel.

- Set the Wait Time to 10 seconds. This feature overwrite any wait-activities or timeouts with the given value. This will mean we do not have to wait 2 days for the Application Submit event to time out.
- Click on Trigger an event. This will open a window. In this window you can choose a profile to be in the PCAApplication_Start activity.
- Fill out all the values for the event.
- Set Event Type to web.fsi.pca.start
- Set Core to your ECID
- Click Send to start the test.
If you don't have your test profile's ECID at hand, you can find your test profile in AEP using your email address in the Profile Viewer.
The window will close and the test will now start. In a few moments you'll see more arrows turn green. This is your test profile moving through the journey. You will receive the push notification within the next minute. Your screen should look like this:

The journey will wait after the first push. You now need to trigger the next event (the form submission).
- Click on Trigger an event. This will open a window. In this window you can choose a profile to be in the PCAApplication_Submit activity. Choose this from the drop down options.
- Fill out all the values for the event.
- Set Event Type to web.fsi.pca.apply
- Set Core to your ECID
- Click Send to continue the test.
- The window will close and the test will now continue. In a few moments you'll see more arrows turn green.
If you submitted your communication preferences to receive Email messages, your profile will proceed through the top path and will trigger the sending of the PCA Application Submit Email message. You will receive this in your inbox if you used a valid email address when submitting the form.
Your screen should look like this:

You've now tested your journey.
- Turn off test mode by clicking Close in the top right corner.
- Click the in the top left to navigate back to the Journeys overview.
